Mary Our Queen School is a Nebraska State and AdvancED Accredited K-8 Catholic elementary school situated in the southwest metro of Omaha, Nebraska. The school currently services 510 students and 318 school families. The parish school is located at 3405 South 119th Street and resides within the Westside Community District 66 school district. The community is extremely welcoming and there are many extended families within the parish community. The school culture has the feel of a small town. The neighboring community directly surrounding the parish and schools consists of single family housing. The parish was founded in 1963 and the school was established in 1965.
Presently, MOQ school has three classrooms of every grade with the exception of fourth grade which consists of two classrooms. Students in grades K-3 are self-contained. Students switch for three classes in grades 4 and 5. Grades 6-8 are departmentalized and switch for all classes. Specialists teachers include P.E., music, computer, library and Spanish. We have a full time counselor and resource teacher.
Mary Our Queen school personnel consists of 34 certified teachers (3 at 50-83% time), 10 teacher assistants, 2 administrative staff positions, 1 fulltime school principal and a 50% time assistant principal who also teaches for a total of 47 personnel. Teachers who hold master’s degrees or beyond total 43% and the average years of teaching experience is approximately 11 years. The student to teacher ratio averages 16:1.
Mary Our Queen Schools has a 50+ year tradition of providing excellence in academic and religious education. We offer small class sizes that are supported by both the parish and school. This affords our teachers more time to work one-on-one with individual students Our curriculum integrates religious values with core academic subjects such as Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies, and also includes specialty programs such as Computer Technology, Health, Library, Music, Physical Education, and Spanish.
